About Us
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows." 2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Thank you so much for taking the time to hear to the praises of what the Lord has done. Knowing how to write this testimony and where to begin is my greatest challenge yet. I will fumble through my words and be forced to omit some wonderful stories but I hope you will feel my heart in what I write. There are so many things that have happened in the last three years that I wouldn't be able to include them all in this brief overview. I share this journey with you not because we feel worthy or have anything unique to offer but only because of the grace of God and the clear evidence of His hand in this project.

I hope that through our story someone else may be encouraged and find a way to press on toward the goal that the Lord has laid upon their hearts. We pray that with this great cloud of evidence our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be glorified and that others may come to know Him with the conviction that He too, is their Savior and friend.

After spending many hours in prayer I believe God has led us to create the "Comforter" for two reasons. One, is to comfort those in need bringing them hope and peace. Two, is that the Scriptures, at the heart of every quilt, would be an effective witness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I have shed buckets of tears and overcome numerous challenges in getting to this point, but God has clearly led us by the hand every step of the way. Our beginning was quite humble. The first quilt I sewed was out of scraps of sheet and leftover notions from my sewing box that hadn't been open in years. But with God's help in providing the necessary resources what you see now is the evidence of what He opened my heart to over three years ago.

It never dawned on me when this project began that one of the first quilts I would need to make would be for my own daughter, Dylan. Tucking her in at night has been more comforting to me that I ever imagined. As I run my fingers over the prayer knots kindly tied by friends, I am tenderly reminded of all the prayers said for her. Seeing the promise of God's love in His written Word gently wrapped around her little body gives me continual hope during uncertain times.

Once we saw the comfort the quilts brought to our own family and friends, we knew this was something that God would want us to make available to others. Seeing the results of the direct connection between those in need of prayer and those praying for them further affirmed our mission. God has used countless people to confirm His hand in this work. Many have come along side us and shared in our vision, to each of you I will be eternally grateful. A number of others have come to a personal knowledge of Jesus as their Savior, beginning with my own husband. I am so blessed to have been a part of that transformation as my emotions overflow with great joy. Countless others have already been ministered to by their "Comforter" and found an unexplainable source of strength and hope within it's arms. Some families have been moved to bury their loved one with their quilt.

There is a powerful story behind each prayer quilt that leaves our home. Whether it is for a precious new life or for a young woman of twenty-one living with brain cancer, each one has a special significance. One story in particular seems to tug at my heart still. It is about a woman who purchased a quilt for her young son who is facing a possible life sentence in prison for an impulsive act of his youth. As a believer she strongly acknowledges the need for him to be held accountable for his actions, as a mother she is broken-hearted. He can't have his quilt in prison, but she has shown it to him and told him of all the prayers that have gone into it on his behalf. At the end of the day, in the absence of her son, she wraps herself within the embrace of his quilt. She has become stronger and drawn great comfort from the Word of God and the prayers of others wrapped around her broken spirit. We pray for each person that we send a quilt to and for their families. Although we will never meet them all, they continue to be in our prayers and we look forward to meeting them in eternity someday. Including the missionaries and orphan children on three continents whom we have had the privilege of sending prayer quilts in order to comfort them. There are other stories of God's love on our testimonials page that I hope you will take the time to read. Check it often as we will continually add more stories to this page and hope to encourage others through it. If you have a special story you would like to share please email it to me via the "contact us" page.

Daddy & Jordyn (aka:twinkle toes)

Mommy & Jordyn

I feel behooved to tell you that throughout these three years I have been challenged physically, emotionally and spiritually. My body has been broken since the age of fifteen and my life has had it's share of personal challenges. My friend Amy thinks I should be in the nuthouse (well, my family might agree) with all that I have been through in my life. Without going into the details, I share this only to say that it has been the spirit of the Lord that has allowed me to press through things with an inner strength I have yet to comprehend. This has not come easy or without a cost but has been worth every tear, especially when I hear the stories of how the "Comforter" has helped others.

There is still so much I would love to share with you but I must end somewhere. I would like to close by taking this opportunity to offer a special acknowledgement to those who have been brought into our lives through this venture, many of you are new friends that will remain with us forever. To our beloved children, Heather, Dylan, Jake and Jordyn for sharing their mommy and daddy during this busy time and brief moments of insanity (or not so brief moments). Especially to Heather who has pitched in and worked without many thanks and although she is away at college is still an integral part of this family business, we love and miss you bear. To Lela Gray (aka Nanny), who without complaint or pay helps us daily and now faces the challenge of her life but remains steadfast in her commitment to us. Max Gray (aka Grandpa) who supports our hopes and dreams. To Patricia Hammond, Amy Allen, Gaye and Scott Scholler, Karen and Rod Nichols, Bill Poole, Joseph Fink and the many others who have donated their time, talent, and friendship without which the journey would be much less fun. Also to those who have supported us through their prayers, we hope you are blessed abundantly by the Giver of all things. And to the memory of my dear friend Mike Erwin who went to be with the Lord several years ago, yet wrote the love of Christ so strong upon my heart that He will never be forgotten. I miss you Mike.

To those of you who are in a difficult place in your life, believe me when I say...He feels your pain. The Scriptures tell us He does. I pray this witness will give you some strength of spirit and courage to go on. Seek His wisdom and direction in His Word. Spend time in prayer with Him, He hears you and will bring rest to your soul. Give Him lordship in your life, it will ease your burden and renew your strength. "He will never leave you nor forsake you." There is nothing that can compare to the grace of God, that gift He gave us freely on the Cross at Calvary. The gifts of His grace remain unequaled!

We will be forever humbled by the things He has chosen to do! We will never be able to give back all that we have already received from the Lord, by His grace and through His blessings, as they continue to flow in abundance daily. And if it all ended tomorrow, we have already succeeded and wouldn't change it for the world. To Him, my friend, be all the glory and honor, forever and ever.

Amy (our artist and friend)

In the shadow if His grace,

"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me — the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace". Acts 20:24
